El Cerrito Class of 1968 Fiftieth Year Reunion
Reunion Committee Working Hard to Spread the Word Far and Wide
Signs of life abound. The El Cerrito High School Class of 1968 Reunion Committee met on June 20 to discuss the 50th year reunion event scheduled for October 6, next year, at the Richmond Country Club. By far the most important subject was how to extend an invitation to each and every classmate existent. The goal is to maximize attendance. The committee has an active contact list for approximately one-third of its graduating class numbering 540, or for about 180 classmates. Depending on the source, estimates vary between 10% to 33% of the class is deceased, leaving about 180 to 300 classmates still needing to receive invitations. The committee respectfully realizes that not all alumni are holding their breath waiting for an invite, due to a variety of reasons which can include negative memories dating back fifty years or more. To the extent possible, the reunion committee wants to extend an invitation to each and every classmate as an expression of a core value held by the committee, which is each and every graduate is welcome and encouraged to attend the 50th year reunion event. If there are any questions, please email the ECHS Class of 1968 reunion committee at ... echs1968@yahoo.com ... hopefully immediately after reading this article. Details about purchasing tickets will be publicized later. Meanwhile, all ECHS 1968 classmates are encouraged to hold open that greatly anticipated date next year - October 6, 2018. Also, consistent with the goal of spreading the word about reunion festivities far and wide, on June 9, three committee members met with classmate Wendy Frankel who lives in Spain but was in town visiting family, and plans to be at the reunion next year.
