Update on El Cerrito High School Evacuation

Update:

A bomb threat that evacuated El Cerrito High School this morning had no merit and students have returned to class, according to police.

Police said at about 10:40 a.m. that the school at 540 Ashbury Ave. had received a bomb threat by phone and was being evacuated as a precaution.

Investigators later determined that the bomb threat had no merit and students returned to their classrooms by 1:40 p.m.

It is unclear whether the threat to the school at 540 Ashbury Ave. is credible, but police said they are evacuating out of caution.
