El Cerrito Man Arrested For BART Station Attack: Police

EL CERRITO, CA — An El Cerrito man was arrested Thursday for beating another man with a large stick, causing head and shoulder injuries, BART Police said. They arrested 46-year-old Lawrence Harvey on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Police say a second man was involved in the incident and they are investigating his role in the attack. The beating was reported at 2:21 p.m.
A second assault with a deadly weapon incidents was reported at another East Bay BART station on Thursday. At 6:49 p.m. at the BART Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa County Station in Walnut Creek, a suspect swung a crutch at a victim, According to BART Police. The suspect missed the victim, but the victim fell to the ground and suffered an injured leg.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Benjamin Horton of Pleasanton, fled the scene but was later located and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
