El Cerrito Police Arrest Man For Assault

El Cerrito, CA - Police in El Cerrito have arrested a suspect in connection with a Monday assault that sent a victim to the hospital.

Terry Ramirez, 56, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Officers with the El Cerrito Police Department responded Monday at 5:25 p.m. to Fairmount Avenue on a report of a battery and located a victim who had been struck in the head several times with a metal object.

Officers located the suspect, later identified as Ramirez, and took him into custody.

Police said witnesses identified Ramirez as the person responsible for the assault.

The victim was transported to a trauma center and was in stable condition Thursday night.

Police said both Ramirez and the victim were intoxicated at the time of the incident.
