Balinese dance is steeped in the rich culture and traditions of Bali, Indonesia. The form has a vibrant life in the Bay Area as talented young artists dedicate their lives to mastering and embodying Balinese dance techniques which encompass a wide range of movement that is subtle and dynamic, lyrical and powerful.
Dancers will present pieces that give a taste of the wide range of characters, movements and moods. They will introduce the background of each piece, providing an opportunity to not only see Balinese dance, but to meet performers and to begin to understand the magic behind the movement.
This free 45 minute program is provided by the Contra Costa County Library Summer Reading Festival.
