Digital Tools for Traditional Media: The Computer as a Mixed Media Tool
Local artist, illustrator and naturalist, Benjamin Witzke will demonstrate how he integrates graphite drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting to create his digital illustrations. Benjamin will also explain how he uses digital media to aid with his work in traditional media such as watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and pen and ink.
Ben studied zoology at Humboldt State before combining his passions for nature and the sciences with his skill as a draftsman, earning a degree in Illustration from California College of the Arts, and a graduate degree in Scientific Illustration from CSU Monterey Bay. He is currently illustrating newly described species of frogs and tadpoles for the California Academy of Sciences.
