
The National Brotherhood Alliance and community volunteers presents the 9th Annual Juneteenth Family Day Parade & Festival, Saturday, June 16, 2012. Parade: 10 am from Cutting Blvd and Marina Way S to Nichol Park in Richmond. Featuring: The Parade of Black Cowboys. Grand Marshal is Clarance Van Hook. Festival: 11 am-6 pm, Nichol Park, featuring two stages of entertainment and a children's play area. Headliners: the Kingdom Travelers, Ray McCoy Tribute to Luther Vandross and the legendary George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Juneteenth in West County is free! Juneteenth commemorates the Emancipation of the last black slaves in Texas in 1868. Today Juneteenth events worldwide celebrate freedom & the cultural heritage of African Americans by all races, ethnic groups and religions.The Committee is also seeking volunteers, parade participants, and food and craft vendors.
