For its final concert of the 2011-'12 season, the KSO will present a program entitled Evocation and Culmination, featuring the world premiere of Mark Narins' Evocation conducted by the composer. The concert, under the direction of Music Director Geoffrey Gallegos, will also feature guest soloist Joe Schillaci, saxophone, in a performance of the rarely heard Concerto for Alto Saxophone in E-flat Major by Alexander Glazunov. The concert will culminate with two favorites of the French repertoire: the L'Arlésienne Suite No. 2 by George Bizet, and the mesmerizing, sexy and brilliantly evocative Bolero by Maurice Ravel, with its masterly demonstration of orchestral color and crescendo through orchestration, featuring KSO soloists, solo sections and ultimately the entire orchestra in a fitting climax to the season!
