Oakland** School** for the Arts presents** LES MISÉRABLES. **This school
edition musical is being p*erformed entirely by the Oakland School For the
Arts public charter school students in grades 6 – 12. This is an all school
musical with over 80 cast members, 30 technicians & 30 orchestra students!!

The musical is based on Victor Hugo's 1862 novel, an epic story about the
struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Les Misérables* *is a
social commentary that examines the nature of good, evil, justice,
religion, and love. The musical opened on Broadway in 1987 and won eight
Tony awards in 1997.
A musical by Alain Boubil and Claude-Michel Schömberg School Edition is
specially adapted and licensed by Music Theatre International and Cameron
Mackintosh. Directed by OSA theater faculty Michael Berry-Berlinski and
Becky Potter and vocal director Branice MacKenzies, with set design and
technical direction from OSA's own Jean Francois Revon. Musical direction
from local conductor John Kendall Bailey. Do not miss this amazing
