Homicide Investigated In El Cerrito

EL CERRITO, CA — El Cerrito Police Department detectives are investigating a homicide, after a man was found dead on the sidewalk at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday. The man's identity has not been released by the coroner.

Both police and fire department personnel responded to a report of an unconscious man on lying on the sidewalk in the 11300 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police report that the man had wounds on his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While his name has not been released, police report that he is a transient.
