ICE Detainees Transferred To Other States
They had been held in jail in Richmond, but a contract was cancelled because of the cost of policing protests.

RICHMOND, CA — Many of the immigrants detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at their facility in Richmond have been transferred out of state due to the termination of the federal agency's contract with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, according to the Contra Costa Immigrant Rights Alliance.
Sheriff David Livingston announced the termination of the contract last month, warning that the people detained could be relocated to facilities as far away as Colorado or Hawaii, but that it had become expensive and time consuming to manage protests outside the Richmond facility.
According to the CCIRA, the detainees in question have primarily ended up in Colorado and Washington. Tony Bravo, a spokesman for CCIRA, said Tuesday that immigration activists would have preferred to see things unfold differently, with Livingston calling on ICE to release their detainees held into Contra Costa
County.
