Inmate Died of Natural Causes, Jury Says
Several witnesses testified regarding the manner of Kristen Hamilton's death.

A coroner’s inquest jury has found that the in-custody death of a jail inmate in Richmond this April was due to natural causes, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office announced today.
Inmate Kristen Hamilton died as a result of acute peritonitis on April 25 at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond, according to deputies. Hamilton’s cellmate hit the emergency call button when she witnessed Hamilton collapse, deputies said. Medical personnel responded to the scene, where Hamilton was pronounced dead, deputies said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the coroner’s jury reached the verdict regarding the manner of Hamilton’s death after hearing testimonies from several witnesses.
