Interfaith Meditation Every Thursday at 6 pm

Every Thursday at 6 pm a group of 6-10 of us gather at Sycamore Congregational Church UCC for 45 minutes of quiet in the midst of our busy lives. This year we have explored a variety of meditation and contemplation techniques, including breath counting, lectio divina (reading of short sacred texts), and centering prayer. We have found that a regular weekly practice of sitting with others is helpful. It is somehow easier to stay focused on whatever form of practice one is pursuing, when like-minded people are doing the same in the same sacred space. Our group includes folks from the community and friends and pastors of the Sycamore and Mira Vista churches, including Christians and Buddhists, and others as well. All that matters is a desire to share periods of silence and gentle exploration of different forms of meditation and contemplation. We start right at 6 pm, usually with a short introduction, followed by 2-3 periods of silent reflection. Come join us!
