Kensington Library Getting a Makeover
The library will close for 8 days in June for repainting and the installation of new furniture and rugs.

KENSINGTON, CA — The Kensington Library will close for eight days in early June while the building undergoes several improvements. The Library will close from June 4 through June 12. During the closure, several areas in the both the public and staff spaces will be painted.
The staff area will be reconfigured and new desks will be installed. These changes are made possible by funding from the Contra Costa County Library specifically set aside for facility refresh projects.
In addition to the upgrades from the County, the Friends of the Kensington Library will fund several additional improvements including: new seating and powered end tables in the adult reading area, new seating in the teen area, new activity tables and classroom style seating in the children’s area, and new slat walls and periodical display materials. Each area will also receive a new rug.

“The Kensington Library is full of history and an important part of the community,” said County Librarian Melinda Cervantes. “The new furniture and paint will refresh the library and provide a clean and more modern library experience.”
