Kindergarten registration for children in western Contra Costa County cities and communities will begin next week, according to school district officials. Registration begins Monday for children who will be five years old on or before Sept. 1 in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, the district's officials said today. The district consists of schools in the cities of Hercules, Pinole, San Pablo, Richmond and El Cerrito and the communities of El Sobrante, Tara Hills and Kensington. Registration at these schools takes place each day, starting Monday, between 9 a.m. and noon and then between 1 and 3 p.m. A birth certificate or baptismal record, a form of address verification and immunization records must be presented during registration, school district officials said.
