Man, 64, Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in Crash that Injured Pedestrian in El Cerrito

The pedestrian was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in stable condition, according to police officials.

A 64-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after his car struck a pedestrian in El Cerrito on Saturday night, police said today. The collision was reported at about 8 p.m. Saturday near San Pablo Avenue and Portola Drive.

The pedestrian was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in stable condition, according to police Lt. Steve Bonini.

Police contacted the driver, Michael Didier, and saw he displayed symptoms of intoxication. Didier was eventually arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to county jail in Martinez, Bonini said.
