Man Arrested at Motel on Suspicion of Human Trafficking

Troy Brewer, 30, was arrested on Wednesday in a Richmond motel.

Contact between an officer and a woman who said she was being sexually exploited led to the arrest of an alleged pimp in Richmond last week, according to police. Troy Brewer, 30, was arrested on Wednesday in a Richmond motel on suspicion of human trafficking, police said.

He was arrested after an officer spoke with a woman who was suspected of loitering for the purpose of prostitution on 23rd Street, police said. The officer discovered that she was a victim of human trafficking, police said. An arrest warrant was later put out for Brewer.

During a search following Brewer’s arrest, a firearm was also found in his possession, police said. He was booked into Martinez Detention Facility and is being held on $1.4 million bail.
