Man Killed In Hit-and-Run In Nearby Richmond

BREAKING: The victim was found in the road with a toppled grocery cart and belongings strewn in the street, police said.

RICHMOND, CA – A man died in what police suspect was a hit-and-run collision Friday night in Richmond, a police spokesman said.

The collision occurred at about 10:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Barrett Avenue before someone flagged down an officer, police Lt. Felix Tan said.

The victim was found in the middle of the road with a shopping cart tipped over and belongings strewn in the road.

Officers believe that a vehicle hit the man, Tan said.

The Contra Costa County coroner's office is not releasing the name of the victim until his next of kin is told of his death.
