RICHMOND, CA — A shooting in Richmond on Sunday night left a 50-year-old man dead and a 46-year-old woman injured, a police sergeant said.
Officers responded at about 10:30 p.m. to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system activation in the area of the 1500 block of Chanslor Avenue and arrived to find Maurice Jackson, a San Leandro resident, sitting in his vehicle with gunshot wounds, Richmond police Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said.
Jackson was taken to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The female victim was found at a home also suffering from gunshot wounds and investigators determined she was in Jackson's vehicle. She was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition, according to Pomeroy.
Homicide detectives learned that a suspect or suspects parked a vehicle and ambushed the victims as they drove to a home in the neighborhood, Pomeroy said.
