Man Suffers Head Trauma After Being Struck by Car in Richmond
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is encouraged to call the Richmond Police Department's traffic division at (510) 621-1578.

A pedestrian was transported to the hospital in critical condition after a car struck him this evening in Richmond, a police lieutenant said. Officers responded just after 8 p.m. to the 3500 block of Rheem Avenue on a report of a vehicle collision, Richmond police Lt. Joey Schlemmer said. Schlemmer said a man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries to his face or head. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police, Schlemmer said.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors at this time but Schlemmer said the investigation is still in its early stages. Schlemmer said it appears the man was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk.
“We always urge drivers to drive as cautiously and carefully as possible and urge pedestrians to always be aware of their surroundings so situations like this are minimized or prevented,” Schlemmer said.
