Police responded to reports of a stabbing and subsequently found themselves a block away from a fatal shooting in Richmond Wednesday night, police said. Officers initially responded to reports of a man suffering from a stab wound in the area of 4th Street and MacDonald Avenue at 8:11 p.m., according to Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill.
The victim was found lying in the street and is currently in critical but stable condition, Hill said. At 8:46 p.m. while the stabbing victim was being airlifted to the hospital, an officer heard multiple gunshots come from around the corner in the 400 block of 5th Street. Officers responding to the area found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, Hill said.
The shooting victim, 68-year-old Anthony Biggs, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Hill. Police are investigating both incidents and have no known suspects in either case.
