Party At The El Cerrito Library Wednesday
The El Cerrito Library is now open on Wednesday and Sunday, and it's throwing a party to celebrate. Free cookies and frozen custard!

EL CERRITO, CA — Beginning this week, the El Cerrito Library will open an additional 15 hours a week. The Library will open on both Wednesdays and Sundays, which were previously closed days. That means the library will be open 7 days a week.
The City of El Cerrito is providing the funding for the additional hours.
“The City of El Cerrito is proud to partner with the Contra Costa County Library to add increased Library services to our community,” said Mayor Gabe Quinto. “We look forward to enjoying our Library seven days a week, and to our continued partnership with the County in providing a wonderful Library experience.”

The Contra Costa County Library funds 35 hours per week and the additional 15 hours will increase service levels by 42 percent and means the Library will be open seven days a week.
To improve access for all members of the community, the Library will also adjust open hours on Fridays to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., an increase of three hours.

“The additional hours allows for more programming and events,” said County Librarian Melinda Cervantes. “Our staff will also have the flexibility to do more outreach with schools and community organizations in the city.”
The change in library hours will make library services available to more people, more often.
