Pet of the Week: London
Looking for a companion? Head on over to RabbitEARS and meet London, a six-month-old Lionhead rabbit.
London is a playful, black Lionhead rabbit who was rescued from Oakland and is now at seeking a human companion. At six months, London is fully grown, weighing in at four pounds. He has a great sense of humor and enjoys the company of both cats and dogs alike. According to Judy Hardin, owner of RabbitEARS, London has great litter-box habits.
In case you are unfamiliar with house rabbits, here’s a quick rundown. Rabbits are crepuscular, meaning they’re most active at dawn and dusk. Their average life expectancy is 10-12 years, and healthy rabbits will never have to see the vet. House rabbits should not be left outside unsupervised. Instead, they live within a habitat inside your home. A typical habitat is comprised of a pen, litter box, food and water dishes, and plenty of toys. The set up (including adoption fees) for a first-time rabbit owner will cost around $200. Because their diet consists primarily of hay, maintenance is cheap.
