Police Arrest Fairfield Man Following 2 Richmond Home Invasions

The two houses are less than a half-mile from each other.

Richmond police have arrested a Fairfield resident on suspicion of two home invasion robberies with a replica firearm earlier this month. Officers responded on Feb. 4 and Feb. 9 to home invasion robberies in the 2600 block of Clinton Avenue and the 600 block of 27th Street, police said.

The two houses are less than a half-mile from each other. Police said both robberies occurred in the early morning hours. The victims in both incidents said the suspect entered the residence, pulled out a firearm and demanded money and personal property. Police set up a surveillance operation in the area during the early morning hours and on Feb. 12, officers saw a man who matched the victims’ description.

The man was hiding between parked cars. Once he saw the police officers, he tried to run away but officers quickly caught up to him and took him into custody, police said. Police arrested the suspect, identified as David O’Neal, 20, on suspicion of possessing stolen property and resisting police officers. O’Neal also had an outstanding arrest warrant for burglary out of Solano County, according to police. Officers executed a search warrant at O’Neal’s residence and seized a replica firearm, police said. Possible charges for the home invasion robberies are pending, police said. Lt. Andre Hill said the department wants to remind residents to stay alert.
