Richmond Motorcyclist Dies from Injuries in Friday Night Crash in Berkeley
The collision occurred at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and University Avenue at about 8:31 p.m. on Friday, police said.

A motorcyclist from Richmond has died from injuries he sustained in a collision at one of Berkeley’s busiest intersections last Friday night, police said today. Gregory Allen Scoggin, 48, collided with a pick-up truck driven by a 20-year-old Berkeley man at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and University Avenue at about 8:31 p.m. on Friday, police said.
Scoggin was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and died on Monday, according to authorities. Police said it doesn’t appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
Berkeley police said traffic bureau investigators are still following up on the collision so they aren’t yet disclosing a primary collision factor.
