Saturday Update: Police Continue to Investigate Shooting in Front of High School
The shooting delayed school dismissal Friday afternoon.

Police this morning are continuing to investigate a Friday shooting in front of El Cerrito High School.
The victim, a 19-year-old man not associated with the high school, was shot twice, police said. A school resource officer responded at 2:43 p.m. to a report of shots fire in front of the school and located the victim on Lincoln Avenue at Ashbury Avenue.
The victim refused medical attention at the scene and went to the hospital with relatives.

After receiving reports of suspects fleeing the area after the shooting, police detained two juveniles that were identified as associates of the shooting suspects, police said.
Police created a perimeter covering several blocks after witnesses reported seeing four suspicious men climbing over fences in the area, but the suspects were not located, police said.

Several area schools were placed on lockdown after the shooting as police searched for the suspects.
