EL CERRITO, CA — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects who allegedly punched a Subway sandwich shop clerk in the face during a robbery in El Cerrito. Police said the incident happened Sunday evening after one of the suspects entered the sandwich shop located at 11430 San Pablo Avenue, to ask about the cost of one of the menu items. The suspect left and returned soon after with a second suspect. According to police, while the employee started making the sandwich, a second employee tried to ring up the order.

“As the transaction was taking place, one of the suspects jumped over the counter, shoved an employee to the ground and then struck the second employee numerous times in the face,” police said in a statement. “The suspect asked several times for the employees to relinquish the money from the business.”

Both suspects fled the area. The employee’s injuries were not life threatening, but she were taken to the hospital to be treated. Anyone with information about this case is asked to email at investigations@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us or by telephone at 510-215-4422.
