Supervisors To Address Pot Guidelines At Meeting

The meeting will be held Tuesday and is open to the public.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is expected to offer advice Tuesday to county staffers drawing up guidelines for soliciting prospective operators of marijuana-related businesses.

County staff is developing a detailed Request for Proposals document for applicants to operate the limited number of cannabis-related businesses allowed under the county's new cannabis ordinance, and wants guidance from the board on key features of the selection process.

The cannabis ordinance, approved by the supervisors in June, and will go into effect with the upcoming certification of Measure R, the cannabis tax measure approved last week by Contra Costa voters.

The cannabis ordinance requires approval of a land-use permit for all commercial cannabis uses, including testing, distribution, delivery, cultivation and retail sales. It limits the number of retail storefront permits in unincorporated parts of Contra Costa at four, commercial cultivation permits at 10 and permits for manufacturing in an agricultural zone at two.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the supervisors' chamber on the ground floor of 651 Pine St.
