Tehiyah Running Group Works Together to Achieve a Common Goal

On March 24th, more than 90 members of the Tehiyah Day School community will be running as a team in the Oakland Running Festival as part of the second annual Run for Tehiyah fundraiser. Tehiyah staff, students and their families have been training weekly since the beginning of the school year. The Run for Tehiyah is the biggest fundraiser for Tehiyah’s Israel Education Fund. Our seventh- and eighth-grade families are leading the charge on this event, which occurs only a few weeks before those students head off for a two-week trip to Israel on April 10th.
 
The Run for Tehiyah is expected to raise more than $35,000 for the Israel Education Fund through sponsorships of individual runners or the group as a whole, but is more than just a fundraiser. The entire running team just received their special Run for Tehiyah t-shirts featuring a student-designed logo selected in a community design contest. The weekly Run for Tehiyah training sessions have proven to be an opportunity for our entire community, from our youngest students to grandparents and other members of the school, to bond. While we train together, we are proud to be examples of the school’s goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle.

This grassroots fundraiser, where so many people join together for a common goal, is a model for building cross-generation community while raising needed funds for a non-profit. The Run for Tehiyah is almost here and the group is training hard. The runners can’t wait to participate in the Oakland Running Festival on March 24th.
