Train now in EC to Coach in EC Schools!

Train in EC to Coach in EC Schools: WriterCoach Connection hosts free trainings in El Cerrito during the month of September.

Train in EC to Coach in EC Schools

WriterCoach Connection takes teams of trained volunteers into local middle and high schools to work one-on-one with students on their writing assignments. In El Cerrito, the WriterCoach Connection program serves El Cerrito High School and Korematsu Middle School. While the program was initiated in East Bay schools over ten years ago, the history of WriterCoach Connection in El Cerrito began only about four years ago. El Cerrito High was the first to invite the program in for their students, and Korematsu (formerly Portola) made their own request for WriterCoach Connection volunteers a few years later. The program has expanded to where volunteer WriterCoaches encourage, inspire and connect with hundreds of students in El Cerrito schools per semester. Area teachers praise the WriterCoaches’ positive influence on students’ higher writing assignment turn-in rates and grade performance.

The effectiveness of WriterCoach Connection in the El Cerrito school district is all thanks to its trained volunteers. Those interested in becoming a part of this program and coach in an El Cerrito school can reserve their place now at one of the free trainings being held in El Cerrito during the month of September. There is a Volunteer Registration on the WriterCoach Connection website. Prospective volunteers just need to fill out the online form and choose their preferred training session.
