According to its website, the club originated in late 2003 "as a co-ed group of water polo enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels," which looks "to provide an excellent place to play their most beloved game and foster professional contacts and friendships. Underlying East Bay Masters’ mission to promote the sport is its desire to provide a venue where anyone who wants to play water polo can do so in an informal yet competitive setting." The site says the club hosts "one of if not the only co-ed friendly tournament in Northern California" and competes in a variety of tournaments as well as more informal play.
"They will take on former collegiate players, swimmers, international players, someone looking to get back in shape, or people who are trying the sport for the first time."
