Volunteer Literacy Tutors Needed

Want to make a difference? Teach an adult to read through Project Second Chance!

Project Second Chance, the Contra Costa County Library adult literacy program, is training volunteer tutors. Volunteers are needed to help adults improve basic reading, writing, and spelling. Volunteers do not need to be experienced teachers, only patient, kind, and open-minded. A tutor recently said, “Although it's early days, and I can see how much my student is gaining, I feel as if I'm getting even more back.”

Tutor training takes place on Wednesday, April 26th from 6:30- 8:30 pm, and Saturdays April 29th and May 6th from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm. All sessions are required to become a tutor. Training takes place in Martinez, but the opening session is also offered at the Hercules Library. After training, you are free to tutor at the West County library of your choice.

To learn more about Project Second Chance, visit our website at ccclib.org/psc or call us at (510) 527-7558 . To take the training, register online at http://ccclib.org/psc/tutors/html.
