Qian Gao will demonstrate watercolor technique at the monthly El Cerrito Art Association meeting at 7:00 pm on July 13 at the El Cerrito Community Center.
Qian Gao (pronounced Chen Gau) will demonstrate his watercolor technique and explain his materials, design principle, and style.
Qian Gao began learning watercolor in 1998 as a self-taught painter whose major influences include John Singer Sargent, Edward Seago, John Yardley, and Trevor Chamberlain. After years of experimentation, he has developed a personal style of a “controlled loose painting” method, and is active as a watercolor demonstrator for art organizations around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Qian’s paintings have been selected into national and international art shows and won multiple honors and awards. He has been a signature member of American Watercolor Society (AWS), National Watercolor Society (NWS), Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA) and California Watercolor Association (CWA).
He holds a Ph.D degree in Microbiology and continues to work as a Senior Staff Scientist in a California biotech company.

The July 13 meeting will be held in the Garden Room of the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito. The evening begins at 7 pm with social time and a “mini art show” of members’ work. The mini art show theme is open. A brief business meeting is held at 7:30, followed by the speaker.
