Back when Woolworth's and Capwell's were here, then. Oh, yeah. Capwell's was great.
Are you local to the area? I live in Richmond, born and raised in Vallejo.
What’s your experience working here? Is it fun? Do you get to meet a lot of interesting people? Oh yes. I like talking to people anyway, and being around people. It’s just the job for me. Sometimes you get some people that are unhappy, but you try and make them happy. And in these days and times, it’s hard for a lot of people. They come in and they feel bad, so you try and cheer them up.
Chocolate always makes people feel better anyways. I’m telling you!
What’s your favorite chocolate? Dark chocolate: One of my favorites is the dark chocolate nougat.
What do you do for fun in your free time when you’re not working? I read. I like to read. You know, I haven’t really sat down with a book for a few months, but I do like to read. Oh I don’t know, honey. Take walks. Yeah, that’s good. Two healthy things.
Is there anything else you want to say about working at See’s candy? I’m very happy to be working here. It’s a good store, a busy store, tons of people. You should be here Valentine’s. Honey, Valentine’s, Christmas of course—all of these times are really busy. And the people get in a hurry, “Can you fix up a dozen boxes for me—I gotta be somewhere in a half an hour.” Uh, well, I’m not sure. The place will be packed!
