What do you like about your El Cerrito clientele? Very friendly people, a strong sense of community. I feel like people connect with each other. People share stories about their families and their lives. It feels like people really care about each other and support the community in which they live. We laugh a lot.

What is the most interesting hair style you have done so far? I've seen all kinds of really interesting colors and textures. I think that's my favorite thing about the El Cerrito clientele. They're really into their texture whereas in San Francisco you wouldn't know there were as many curly-haired people as there are. People want their hair straightened there. People here relish their own texture, which is nice. It's a refreshing change from people who are always trying to fight their hair's texture.

Have you discovered any good food in El Cerrito? The Thai restaurant on stilts. Nibs, right next door to our salon. They have a mouthwatering lunch and brunch smell that comes into our salon. I love the El Cerrito Natural Food Company on San Pablo. I like the El Cerrito Farmer's Market, it's really small. It makes it easier to go because it's not as congested.

What are your plans this next week? I am getting married! We went to the Haight and I got a '60s-style dress suit and Billy got a '40s-style suit.
