Every day of the week? Five or six days out of the week.
How did you get involved working with farms? I’ve been working for different farms for over six years. Mainly, I’m a musician, and real musicians need daytime jobs. For the most part, I fell into it because I think it’s the most hospitable and bohemian thing you can be doing. You eat well and you deal with money in a more gentle way and you’re outdoors. You’re not sitting down behind a desk.
And your farm is organic? Yes. I’m supporting something and selling something I can really believe in and staying active physically.
What do you play? I’m a bass player and a composer. I play in two groups in the East Bay – Cash Pony and Inner Ear Brigade. We play with a sitar player and a horn section, so it’s pretty different.
What are the fruits that are in season right now? Today is an awesome day for pluots. We have four varieties of pluots. We have a really rare, hybrid fruit today called a peacotum. It’s peach, plum and apricot all at once. It’s got a little bit of peach fuzz and the kind of bloom you find on a plum.
