Woman Killed in Apparent Drive-By Shooting Identified

No potential motives for the shooting or possible suspects are yet known, according to police.

A woman killed in an apparent drive-by shooting on Thursday afternoon in Richmond was identified by police today as 20-year-old Ronique Gardner-Williams. The Mill Valley resident was found suffering gunshot wounds in a car by police officers who responded at 1:40 p.m. to a reported vehicle collision at San Pablo Avenue and Hilltop Drive, Lt. Andre Hill said.

A preliminary investigation suggested that occupants of an unknown vehicle might have fired into the vehicle prior to the collision, Hill said. Gardner-Williams was in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene, Hill said. No other occupants were injured. No potential motives for the shooting or possible suspects are yet known, according to Hill.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Eric Haupt at (510) 620-6541.
