YMTC offers "Pay as you Will" Performance of "The Most Happy Fella" FRIDAY, July 28, 7pm show. Final weekend!
Cash-only, at the box office. Also, pre-show talk with music director David Möschler about the music of Frank Loesser at 6pm in the lobby.
The YMTC (Youth Musical Theater Company) production of the rarely performed Frank Loesser (composer of Guys and Dolls) musical The Most Happy Fella has three more performances, July 28-30, at the El Cerrito High School Performing Arts Theater: Friday and Saturday at 7pm, and Sunday at 2pm. The Most Happy Fella is a uniquely Bay Area musical story, set in Napa, about an aging Italian grape farmer who woos a San Francisco shop girl. Their age difference leads to some difficulties, but love prevails in the end. Loesser spent many years writing the music and lyrics to what some consider his masterpiece.
"YMTC has a value on making musical theater accessible to everyone," states producing artistic director Jennifer Boesing. "During each run of our shows, we designate one night a "Pay as you Will" performance so that anyone, regardless of income, can come enjoy affordable, high quality musical theater in the community. For "The Most Happy Fella", the Friday, July 28th, 7pm show is the "Pay as you Will" Performance". Cash-only is accepted at the box office on Friday for those seats, and the box office opens one hour before the show, at 6pm.
In addition, on Friday at 6pm, YMTC resident music director David Möschler will be giving a pre-show talk at about the Music of Frank Loesser. Tony's Caffe Amore, a pop-up concessions created for the production will also be open serving sweet and savory delights, and hand-crafted Italian sodas. A $10 dinner special will be available on Friday night as well.

"We hope many people in the community come out to see the show, to enjoy the beautiful theater at El Cerrito High, and to support the young artists who bring such passion and dedication to their performances," Boesing, who directed the show, stated. The production, conducted by Möschler, features a full, live 30 piece orchestra in the pit, playing the original orchestrations. The choreographer is Pam Crane.
