YMTC presents "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF" opening 2/20 at the El Cerrito High Performing Arts Theater. FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!!!!
Family friendly high quality musical theater featuring 31 local actor/singers aged 7th grade through university with a live, full orchestra!
Set in the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, struggles to protect his five daughters and instill them with tradition in the face of changing social mores and growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Winner of ten Tony Awards, and featuring songs like “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset,” Fiddler on the Roof” is a classic for the family. Show accompanied by a full, live orchestra and featuring 31 performers aged 7th grade through university from the Bay Area.

Running over two weekends, Friday and Saturdays Feb. 20**, 21, 27**, 28 at 7:30pm, and Sunday 2pm matinees on February 22* and March 1.

*There will be an audience talk-back featuring the directors, some cast members, with Rabbi Dean Kertesz of Temple Beth Hillel after the Sunday, Feb. 22 matinee.
**Friday evening performances will feature traditional dinner for purchase from “Golde’s Marketplace and Cafe” in the theater lobby (open at 6:30pm, an hour before curtain). The Cafe will be open for ALL performances with sweet, savory and traditional treats.

YMTC (Youth Musical Theater Company) brings together the Bay Area’s most talented and dedicated young singer/actors—as well as students of technical theater— (7th grade through University level)— with professional directors, designers, and musicians to create theater that takes on challenging and sophisticated musical and dramatic themes, and that is always accompanied by a full, live orchestra.
