Sacramento-area police departments to launch Blue Envelope Program for vulnerable community members (kcra.com) โ Elk Grove residents with disabilities or conditions like autism or dementia will soon have access to the new Blue Envelope Program, designed to signal first responders that they may need extra time or accommodations. Starting Thursday, Oct. 1, Elk Grove police and neighboring departments will offer free blue envelopes and ID items to help reduce misunderstandings and make encounters with officers safer and calmer.
