• Citrus Heights Vice Mayor champions Blue Envelope program throughout region (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Elk Grove is joining Citrus Heights, Folsom, Galt and Sacramento in rolling out the Blue Envelope Program, designed to help people with disabilities communicate more easily with police. Residents can carry blue-branded items holding key documents, signaling they may need extra support, with participation voluntary and free through participating law enforcement agencies.
   

• Prepared foods linked to dead mouse in jar recalled at CA grocery stores (sanluisobispo.com) — Prepared Salsa Bean Dip trays sold at WinCo stores, including the Elk Grove location on Sheldon Road, were recalled after a supplier's peperoncini was linked to a video showing a dead mouse in a jar. The affected trays had August and September "best by" dates and are unlikely to still be in homes, but residents who bought them should discard them and contact WinCo with questions.
