For the first time in its 10-year history, the Kaiser Permanente Elk Grove Medical Offices on Big Horn Boulevard will be offering Saturday primary care appointments and other services to help make it more convenient for busy families and individual members to access care.
Starting this Saturday, May 4, physicians and staff will be caring for members in Adult Medicine, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Pediatrics, Lab, Pharmacy, Radiology/Walk-in Mammography, Optical Center and Optometry Services.
Not included in the expanded Saturday hours are Health Education, Dermatology/Mohs Surgery, Member Services and Psychiatry.

"We are committed to meeting the needs of our members, which includes having the opportunity to schedule appointments on days and times that are most convenient to them," said Lisa Liu, MD, Physician-in-Charge, Kaiser Permanente Elk Grove. "Now many of our members will be able to take care of their health needs without having to take time off work or take their kids out of school."
The 102,000-square-foot Elk Grove Medical Offices first opened on September 3, 2003. At that time, Kaiser Permanente was serving more than 46,000 members in Elk Grove and surrounding communities, including Galt, Ione and Walnut Grove. It was a boom time for Elk Grove, which earned the title of the fastest growing city in the U.S. between July 1, 2004 and July 1, 2005.

Today, Kaiser Permanente has more than 88,000 members in Elk Grove and surrounding communities, including 35,000 who live in areas served by the new Elk Grove Promenade Medical Offices, which opened in November 2011. Roughly half of all residents who live in the City of Elk Grove boundaries are members of Kaiser Permanente.
Saturday hours aren't entirely new to the service area. For the past several years, the South Sacramento campus has provided a variety of outpatient services on Saturdays, including urgent care appointments in Adult Medicine and Pediatrics, Lab, Pharmacy, Radiology/Walk-in Mammograms, and Vision Services. As a result of the new Saturday hours in Elk Grove, however, Pharmacy 1 in MOB 2 in South Sacramento and Vision Services in Wyndham will no longer offer Saturday hours. (The South Tower Pharmacy will continue to be available 24/7).
