Spinal Cord Injury Awareness

A Family's Journey is a not for profit organization started to help the von Lahr family (residents of Elk Grove/Sacramento) to raise funds for recovery treatment  and related expenses for a spinal cord injury.

Les von Lahr suffered a SCI in December 2011 and needs the occupational therapy and muscle stimulation therapy that will possibly help him walk again. He could benefit greatly from the treatment offered at Project Walk in Carlsbad, CA but it is very expensive and not covered by insurance.  In addition, the disability insurance originally awarded to Les and his family will run out in just a couple months.

There are many things that can be done to help this family and others like them and unfortunately there is very little in the way of resources out there for SCI patients here locally. I founded this project to help gain awareness in the community and raise money to help the von Lahr's (and others in the future) because I feel this is a rising health concern and many people are falling through the cracks of the system.  This is where we as a community can stand up and do something to help!
