Do kids these days have too much homework?
Over the past three decades, the amount of homework assigned in schools has risen significantly.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, free time is beneficial to kids because it "[helps] them manage stress and become resilient.” However, one huge factor seems to be cutting into kids' free time: homework.
Over the past three decades, the amount of homework assigned in schools has risen significantly. While homework levels continue to rise in some schools, others are taking action. In 2009, the Davis School District introduced their new homework policy—10 minutes for kindergarten, 20 for first grade, 30 for second, etc. The maximum amount of homework time for high schoolers is two hours. This does not, however, include honors or AP classes.
Homework may also be cutting into other important things. Studies show that high schoolers should get eight to 10 hours of sleep a night, along with an hour of exercise per day.

The importance of homework is debatable. Some educators argue that it boosts test scores, while others say it puts too much pressure on the students.
