Don't wait for the New Year to get fit

Just think, you could keep up your routine and NOT start off the New Year with an extra five pounds to get rid of.

So many of us get super-busy during the holiday season, and we put our health and fitness aside 'til the new year. But just think: You could keep up your routine and not start off the new year with an extra five pounds to get rid of.

Not only that, but exercise increases the amount of serotonin in our system, which elevates our mood and helps us sleep better: perfect timing during all the holiday rush.

So here are three quick tips as we head into Thanksgiving this week:

1. Pick up your fitness routine this week—Work a little harder now, then enjoy the holiday break that you deserve.

2. Build in something active to your holiday plans—family walk, football on the street, hide and seek with the wee ones?

3. Fill half your plate with fruits and veggies. (Sorry, mashed potatoes don't count.)
