What to buy your teenager this year
Advice from a high-school student on the best gifts of 2011

Everyone has someone to shop for during the holidays—whether it's parents, friends or siblings. It's often difficult to find the perfect gift for a person. This can result in hours spent walking around shopping malls, surfing Amazon, and wandering aimlessly through aisles. It can be especially difficult to find gifts for teens. To make holiday shopping easier, check out this list of suggestions.
1. Gift cards. It's hard to go wrong with gift cards. Teens can buy what they want and you can add a personal touch by choosing a gift card to one of their favorite stores. Try a gift card to iTunes, Target, Best Buy or a clothing shop like Abercrombie and Fitch.
2. Video Games. If your teen has a gaming system like X-Box, Playstation or Wii, check out games like Just Dance 3, Fifa Soccer 12, and Kinect Sports.

4. Music. Albums like Adele's 21, Lady Antebellum's Own the Night, and Taylor Swift's Speak Now have been topping iTunes charts.

5. Bestsellers. Even if your teen isn't a huge reader, take a chance with bestselling titles like The Hunger Games, Inheritance and Breaking Dawn.
And teens, keep in mind that the holidays aren't entirely about presents. You can use December as an opportunity to give back to the community. Programs like "Adopt a Family" and "Loaves and Fishes" offer great service projects that help other families enjoy the holidays. School clubs like Interact and Key Club are often involved with these organizations.
Enjoy the holidays, everyone!
