Local Elk Grove Artist Paula Ferris
A look at a local artist who specializes in mixed media.

Local Elk Grove Artist Paula Ferris uses mixed media to create her beautiful faux desserts, each its own distinctive work of art. I recently got to talk with Paula as she discussed her mission and ideas with me. With philanthropy being her focus, she is genuine in wanting to develop a system of delivering her works to the public so that she can generate a stream of revenue to help provide services such as art therapy to children who may have viewed or been victims of abuse.
A tour of her studio reveals the scope of her artistic capabilities. As you make your way up the stairs and into her workspace you find works in media such as pastels, acrylic, sanguine and mixed media collage. Her recent project was inspired by Philippe Starck's Louis Ghost Armchair which is a twist on the classic Louis XV armchair.
I got to preview her Ghost installation exhibit which includes both Ghost costuming and her beautiful Ghost Cake. She is very pleased with the progression of her project, and anticipating a gallery showing soon. Her custom works can be commissioned for wedding center pieces, home decor, birthday gifts, and holidays.
