
There are many reasons to exercise: To build a healthy body, so that if some accident or disease does strike, you are stronger to deal with recovery. To improve your immune system (regular exercisers report fewer colds). Or even vanity—fitting into your pants is a great motivator, too.
A client of mine told me just last night, "If you exercise long enough, you'll probably experience all sorts of cramps, pulled muscles and soreness." I countered with, "If you don't exercise, I don't want to find out what kinds of discomforts, injuries and disease you'll deal with."
So, you’re convinced you need to exercise. Where do you start? I’ve always believed that the best exercise is the one you will do. So find something active that you enjoy! If you enjoy it, if you make friends doing it and look forward to the next workout, you will reap the rewards of it. Here are a few ideas to try:

Swimming – Swim in your pool, swim at Wackford or join a gym. Laps, aqua aerobics and swimming with your kids or grandkids count too!
Walking – Walk the dog, walk with a friend or join a Walking team with Moms In Motion.

Triathlon – A mix of swimming, cycling and running mixes up the exercise so you don’t get bored.
Zumba – Buy a home DVD, take a class at the gym, or join Kim at Fusion Fitness.
If your lifestyle doesn’t control your body, your body will control your lifestyle. Get out there and move; your body will thank you!
