Update: Victim of Sunday Night Fatal Shooting Identified
Police are searching for a man who shot another man in the head in the Dimple Records parking lot.

Update: The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has identified the victim in Sunday night's shooting as 19-year-old Joseph Oropesa. An autopsy has not yet been performed on the victim.
A man was fatally shot in the head on Sunday night. The shooting occurred in the parking lot at the 9600 block of Elk Grove Florin Road.
The Elk Grove Police Department responded to a call at 9:25 p.m. after receiving a call saying someone was down in the parking lot and gunshots were heard.

Officers and medical personnel found a man with a gunshot to his head when they arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died at 11:07 p.m.
"At this point, we do not know what the circumstances or motive for the shooting was," said Chris Trim, public information officer for the Elk Grove Police Department.

The police department said witnesses identified the shooter as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, 250 pounds with shoulder-length hair and wearing a black pea coat and black jeans.
Witnesses said the suspect drove away in the victim’s car, a black 1992 Ford Explorer with California license plate number 3BHF649. The victim had previously driven to the location. Police do not yet have a motive for the shooting.
