Cosumnes Fire Sends Help to Northern CA Wildfires
Local firefighters set out to battle a 3,000-acre and a 35,000-acre fire.

Firefighters from the Elk Grove and Galt area left Monday to provide assistance on wildfires burning in northern part of the state.
Two engine companies are headed to help fight the Wye Fire, a 3,000-acre blaze in Lake County that threatens nearly 500 homes and is only 25 percent contained, according to CalFire.
Another Cosumnes engine company will assist in the fight against the Chips Fire, a 35,000-acre fire in Plumas County that is 12 percent contained. That blaze threatens 640 structures.

The Cosumnes Fire Department announced the assistance plance Monday on its Facebook and Twitter feeds.
